Today, Micron DDR5 delivers 2X the effective bandwidth compared to DDR4 and will fuel the next generation of server and client processors. DDR5 will enable current and future data center processors to maintain bandwidth per core as core counts continue to increase. New DRAM methodologies and technologies compared to DDR4, like twice the banks and bank groups, double the burst length, and decision feedback equalization (DFE) all help to enable higher data rates and enable DDR5 to scale performance for years to come.

DDR4 is the best mainstream generation of DRAM technology, with new features centered on power savings, performance enhancement, manufacturability, and reliability improvements. These new features improve performance, power, manufacturability, reliability and stacking capabilities for the enterprise, cloud, ultrathin, tablet, automotive and embedded markets. With data rates up to 3200 MT/s, an operating voltage of 1.2v and additional power saving features; DDR4 increases performance up to 50% while delivering total energy savings as high as 25% compared to DDR3.

Designed for applications that are sensitive to down time and require high performance to enable frequent access to large data sets, NVDIMMs combine the speed of DRAM, the persistent storage of NAND and an optional power source into a single memory subsystem that delivers increased system performance and reliability. NVDIMMs are ideal for big data analytics, storage appliances, RAID cache, in-memory databases and on-line transaction processing.

Implementing load-reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs) enables you to add more DIMMs per channel and increase the memory capacity and speed of your systems. Our LRDIMMs use a specially designed buffer to reduce the data load to a single load (up to an 8-rank DIMM), whereas standard RDIMMs present multiple loads for dual-rank and quad-rank versions and limit the amount of data you can load to the data bus.
